Helpful financial aid resource: IRS Data Retrieval tool

Guest post by Katie Kelsall, a financial aid advisor for Graduate & Health Careers Programs

Even though we’re only half way through the spring term, it is already time to start thinking about the fall! The 2012-13 financial aid application cycle is now open. You can find the 2012-13 Enrollment Plan for Financial Aid form on our website at www.extension.harvard.edu/forms.

In addition to submitting the Enrollment Plan form, you will also need to complete the 2012-13 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.gov. The FAFSA now includes an IRS data retrieval tool, which allows students to import their tax information directly into their FAFSA forms. We highly recommend that students use this tool, if they are able to do so. (more…)

Financial aid deadline: November 1

Guest post by Katie Kelsall, a financial aid advisor for Graduate & Health Careers Programs

In this economy, many students need financial aid to be able to complete their academic programs. As an admitted degree or health careers candidate, you may be eligible for federal and institutional financial aid. To apply for financial aid, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and submit the Enrollment Plan for Financial Aid form.

If you are currently completing the prerequisite courses for admission to a degree program, you may want to consider applying for financial aid, too. Generally, I recommend that students submit their financial aid applications during the semester in which they are completing their final prerequisite course(s).

We cannot review your financial aid application until you are admitted, but you should still submit your application by the priority deadline. Our priority deadlines for each term are listed on our website.

The priority deadline for submission of a complete financial aid application for the spring is just around the corner! If you wish to apply for spring financial aid, submit your applications by November 1. By doing so, you will receive your financial aid eligibility letter before spring registration opens.

So get your application in ASAP!
